Community Members Tour Judy Reservoir and Water Treatment Plant

Post Date:05/15/2026 4:57 PM

Community Tour May 14, 2026Most people expect safe, clean water to come out of the tap every day without thinking much about what it takes to make that happen.

Community members had an opportunity to see that process firsthand during tours of the Judy Reservoir and Water Treatment Plant on May 14.

The tours gave customers an opportunity to see the infrastructure, testing lab, backup systems, reservoirs, pumps, and operators responsible for delivering reliable drinking water throughout the community.

As participants moved through the plant, the questions reflected a growing understanding of the complexity behind the system:

What happens during a power outage?

How is water quality monitored?

What happens if a major line fails?

How much infrastructure does it take to deliver drinking water every day?

The tours highlighted the amount of planning, maintenance, monitoring, and coordination required to operate a modern water system safely and reliably.

Much of that work remains invisible when the system is functioning normally. Plant operators and staff work behind the scenes every day to monitor water quality, maintain infrastructure, prepare for emergencies, and ensure reliable service for customers.

“Water is easy to take for granted until you see everything happening behind the scenes to keep it safe and reliable,” said Community Relations Manager Kevin Tate.

“These tours help people better understand the value of water and what it takes to deliver drinking water every day.”
