Compensation and Benefits

The District offers a generous and competitive compensation and benefits package that includes:

  • Annual cost-of-living increases.

  • Market-based salary and wage scales that are evaluated regularly.

  • Regular performance evaluations.

  • Merit-based incentive program (for non-represented employees).

  • Retirement: PERS 2 or 3 options available.

  • Deferred Compensation: Offered on a voluntary basis. Plan options include DRS (state) or Mass Mutual.

  • Medical/Dental/Vision Insurance: District pays 100% of the premiums for employees and dependents (no premium cost sharing), and no deductibles.

  • Paid Time Off (PTO): May be taken as accrued and is earned as follows (per years of completed service): 0-4 years = 168 hours; 5-11 years = 208 hours; 12-19 years = 248 hours; 20+ years = 288 hours.

  • Paid Holidays: 10 scheduled holidays annually, and 2 floating holidays per year after 3 months of service, which must be taken during the calendar year.

  • Short Term Disability: Premium is paid by the District. Benefits are 70% of salary up to a maximum duration of 6 months if employees cannot work due to illness or injury (voluntary plan that substitutes for WA State Paid Family and Medical Leave).

  • Life and AD&D Insurance: District provides base life insurance, and additional amounts can be purchased under term group rates.

  • Additional benefits include:
      • Retiree Medical Insurance, AFLAC (voluntary);
      • Occupational Disability coverage;
      • Teamsters Pension (for represented employees);
      • Paid family leave (through WA State PFML); and
      • Alternative work schedules (depending upon position).
