Skagit PUD Board of Commissioners approved the 2019 Final Budget during its regular meeting held on Tuesday, November 13.

This budget incorporates the 8.5% rate increase presented in January 2016 as part of the multi-year financial forecast developed by FCS Group. This rate increase is planned to be effective January 1, 2019.

Total rate revenue is projected to be $24.5 million in 2019.

Items of note from the 2019 Budget:

—Work will commence at the Water Treatment Plant's raw water pump station to replace pumps, motors and electrical equipment.

—The Judy Reservoir to Mount Vernon Transmission Pipeline Phase 2 will enter final design with construction in 2020 and 2021.

—Skagit PUD will conduct a condition assessment at the Water Treatment Plant to perform a thorough investigation of the plant, the raw water pump station and Skagit River Diversion in terms of their electrical, mechanical, process, capacity and maintenance needs. This study will assess the current condition of the facilities at the Judy Reservoir to develop a plan for upcoming projects.

—Move forward in the next six months with a decision on the future of Skagit PUD's current building and property on Freeway Drive. The budget includes money to complete the campus assessment and re-engage the architect to develop a master plan.
