GM Hire Process Suspended

Skagit PUD's Board of Commissioners decided Tuesday night to suspend the hiring process for a new general manager through the end of the year.

The PUD Commissioners announced the decision at the end of their regular meeting following a closed door executive session with legal counsel.

On June 14, 2016, during a public Commission meeting, comments about candidates were made that the PUD does not condone nor support. Accordingly, in agreement with Prothman, the consulting firm that has been working with the PUD on the hiring process, in order to ensure fairness to all potential candidates for the position of general manager of the PUD, the Commission has suspended the hiring process for the general manager position through the end of 2016.

The Commission may begin the process again beginning in 2017. In the meantime, George Sidhu will remain the interim general manager.

Sidhu has served as Skagit PUD’s interim general manager since late December 2015 following the retirement of previous general manager Bob Powell. Sidhu has worked as the PUD’s engineering manager since 2011.
