Skagit PUD received a clean audit from State Auditor’s Office for 2013 following a review of the PUD's financial statements and accountability practices last month.
"We're very pleased with the audit report and how smooth the process went," PUD Treasurer/CFO Vanessa Dales said.
"It's a testament to how serious employees are about being good stewards of the public's money."
State auditors conducted an accountability audit that examined areas representing the highest risk of noncompliance, misappropriation or misuse. The following areas were examined during the audit period:
- Open Public Meetings Act
- Credit Cards
- On-Call Contracts
- Small and Attractive Assets
- Inventory
- Payroll
- Expenditures
The state auditors also examined the PUD's financial statements. According to the audit report presented at the September 29 exit conference, “No significant deficiencies in internal control over financial reporting were identified.”
