Skagit PUD has received a High 5 Award from the Washington State Department of Health - Office of Drinking Water for its efforts in securing 250 acres of forested land within the Cultus Mountain Watershed. The property will protect drinking water quality far into the future.

The property is located around Gilligan Creek, which provides 45 percent of the PUD's source water for our Judy Reservoir Water System.

Until recently, timber companies and the Department of Natural Resources owned all the property around Gilligan Creek.

The PUD purchased the 250 acre parcel in December 2017 for $1.5 million.
