Weekend Storm May Impact Water Service

Posted Thursday, March 12, 2020

The high winds this weekend may impact some Skagit PUD water customers. When the power goes out, so do pumps that help in the delivery of water to homes and businesses.

The PUD has stationed backup generators around our service area. Crews are prepared to respond to outages as needed. We also have enough water storage capacity in our system to help weather short-term interruptions in power.

However, in the event of a major windstorm with widespread power outages, crew safety and logistics may mean some customers could be without water for an extended period of time.

In the case of an outage, it's always important to be prepared. Store at least a 3-day supply of water for each person and pet in your household. Consider storing at least one gallon of water per day for each person and pet.

You should consider storing more water than this for pregnant women, and for persons who are sick.
